Today was a review day for the summative tomorrow.
What do you need to know????
 - the structure of the atom - what particles are in an atom and their charges
 - the difference between the atomic number and atomic mass
 - tell how many protons, neutrons, and electrons are in an atom
 - draw and identify Bohr models
 - draw and identify Lewis dot structures
 - know what valence electrons are and how they are different than other electrons

We began talking about protons, neutrons, and electrons.  Students took notes to figure out how to tell how many are in each element.

Intro to Atoms

Today, we set up notebooks for a new unit on atoms.
We put the following in our notebooks : cover page, wordbank, and bellwork pages.
We answered the question on our bellwork page.

Naming elements

Today we began looking at the periodic table.  We discussed the difference between elements and atoms.  The students completed a worksheet in class.  We will discuss the worksheet tomorrow in class.

Students need to write down the chemical name, chemical formula, common name, and 2 uses of each of the white substances.
